Who Can I Turn To (When Nobody Needs Me)

Who Can I Turn To (When Nobody Needs Me)
Tony Bennett
Written by Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley

Who can I turn to when nobody needs me?
My heart wants to know and so I must go where destiny leads me
With no star to guide me and no one beside me
I’ll go on my way and, after the day, the darkness will hide me

And maybe tomorrow I’ll find what I’m after
I’ll throw off my sorrow, beg, steal, or borrow my share of laughter
With you I could learn to, with you what a new day
But who can I turn to if you turn away?

With you I could learn to, with you what a new day
But who can I turn to if you turn away?

  1. I had clicked on “Assurance” from my own blog in order to see other posts on that subject. Then I saw your blog and I read this song. I like that song, but I felt a little sad…especially when I read the phrase, “The darkness will hide me” and immediately this came to my mind:

    ” 7 Where can I go from your Spirit?
    Where can I flee from your presence?
    8 If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
    if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
    9 If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
    if I settle on the far side of the sea,
    10 even there your hand will guide me,
    your right hand will hold me fast.
    11 If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me
    and the light become night around me,”
    12 even the darkness will not be dark to you;
    the night will shine like the day,
    for darkness is as light to you. Psalm 139:9-12

    Then when I read your quotes in your “About” section I saw this:

    ““Everything has it’s time and place, and in time your place in everything will become clear.”

    It struck me because my most recent blog entry has a similar phrase:

    For some reason I felt lead to comment. I hope you have a nice week.
