Andy Ashkar, a 34-year-old man from central New York, won a $5 million state lottery prize 6 years ago but waited to claim it until he was sure his fiancee married him for love.
Ashkar purchased a scratch-off ticket from his parents’ convenience store in 2006 and now says he will share the prize money with his brother.
Tickets for scratch-off games expire 1 year after a game is retired. Ashkar’s game had been retired last March and he claimed his ticket just 11 days before the prize was to expire.
Speaking of her husband’s winnings, Ashkar’s wife said “It’s crazy. Hard to believe. It’s still sinking in.”

ummm…obviously dont walk in his shoes but .. even if she doesnt… and then they break up and she gets half or whatevea the laws are over there..its only money!…I wouldnt want that to play a part or be an issue…Am I so naive or just a romantic idealist?…if its love its love!…..When you ‘got something’ hype, no hype…etc if the foundations are there…sure money takes away the pressures the world puts on us but ….oh I cant find the words! Sorry to ‘stumble talk jumble’ on your page Stephen! đŸ˜‰ Is just a connection with someone, a real deep true connection is worth 10 times..more even!!!! than what that guy won…Yes i am a romantic idealist LOL!!!!!!
