Chapters (Pt. 4)

image

The way she moved her body was nothing short of alchemy.
She compels me with her sweet simplicity.
Her touch is never uninvited.

Spellbound, maybe I’ve been looking at you too much.
Take it all in, so I can let it all out.
I know all that I need to know when it comes to you, angel.
I love how good you are.
Some things just can’t be taught.

I can’t love anyone the way that I love you.

Shake It Off

To the left is everything that I used to fear.
What’s right is to turn & face it directly.
Can’t dance around this.
Better leave it all on the floor.

You better step, step up.
Show them what you’ve got.
Feel your way through it & don’t question what you’re doing.
Now is the time to make moves & shake things up.
Don’t worry, shake it off.

Follow the beat of your heart.
There is no contest when it comes to living your life.
Put your hands in the air & surrender yourself to the moment.
Take everything in, one breath at a time.
The world isn’t ending, there will always be a tomorrow.
But today you can have it your way, so make it happen.

You better step, step up.
Show them what you’ve got.
Feel your way through it & don’t question what you’re doing.
Now is the time to make moves & shake things up.
Don’t worry, shake it off.

Countdown’s begun, get moving.
The build up is what you’ve been waiting for, rise to the occasion.
Don’t rush, make every step you take your own.
There’s nothing on your mind while you’re sliding into place.
There’s nothing to talk about, you know what you know & you don’t know what you don’t know; you’re freestyling.

Can you move me?
See right though me.
Find your footing & make your way.
No rehearsals, every step is the first.
You’re about to witness history in the making.

Show Me

Would you sing a song for me?
Would you put on a show tonight?
I’ll be your audience, captivated by your light
The world outside goes silent when you open your mouth
So show me what you’ve got
I’m waiting

I’m in the front row taking it all in, basking in your energy
Your voice takes me on a tour
Fast or slow, I know that you’ll set the tempo right
Gotta keep it fresh to keep me surprised
I can’t count stars with you in my view
You’re my supernova
I see you & I’m blinded by that body
You move like you’re on fire & your touch only spreads the flames
Keep it up & I’m gon’ put you up on screen when the lights go off

Show me what you’ve got
I’m waiting

Every night’s something new with you
Give me some leeway & I might steal you away
With every step you take you steal my breath away
Do what you gotta do to keep me on my toes
Your eyes are the only light show I know
You know I’m gonna be the one to follow you from show to show
I’m backstage peeking behind your curtains
You know this ain’t no dress rehearsal
Gotta get it right to keep me satisfied
Come midnight my kisses will be your performance review

Would you sing a song for me?
Would you dance with me tonight?
I’ll be your partner, sharing the spotlight
The world outside goes silent when we’re alone
So show me what you’ve got (tonight)
I’m waiting

Take The Lead

I am not leading you on that yellow brick road you’ve found yourself on.
I thought I told you that you’re not the one.
But still you think that I’m wrong.
Maybe I could change my mind, but I usually don’t.
Maybe you could be so right, but not for me at least not tonight.
So stop chasing after me, you won’t take the lead this time.

You’re free to want what you want.
And I’m free to be on my own.
Sure I like your company but you don’t own me.
So don’t place your bets on spending the night with me.
We’ll be sleeping oh so separately despite what your hands may say.

You’re good but you can’t keep up with me.
I move to my own beat.
So beat it if you can’t see what I see.
I’m not close-minded, its just that in my mind we’ve never been that close.
Look, you’re good, you’re just not good for me.
I suppose your sweet nothings should be saved for someone else who’d want to hear your every thought.
You’ll find your dancing partner somewhere.

You’re free to want what you want.
And I’m free to be on my own.
Sure I like your company but you will never be my partner.
So don’t place your bets on spending the night with me.
We’ll be sleeping oh so separately despite what your dreams may say.

I did not intend for you to want me like you do, it’s just something that I do.
I’ll be anything you want in your dreams, anything less would be reality I guess.
There’s nothing here for you to see.
I’m not a tease, but I can’t please you.
So it’s best that you move on, because I don’t want you like you want me & we’re not on the same page.

Was it something I said to keep my name on the tip of your tongue?
Sure we’ll be sleeping tonight.
Was it something I did to make you want me?
We’ll sleep separately despite what your dreams & hands may say.

Stephen’s Anti-Superbowl Weekend

1 Fun workout
2 Postponed/cancelled dates
3 Cakes & cupcakes never got baked (there’s an unintentional drug reference haha)
4 Drinks
5 Movies & pizza slices later

And I finally had an epiphany:

I’ll be FINE by myself.

If I can stand being with myself, eventually I’ll find someone else who can put up with my smart-ass remarks, random dance attacks, vain mirror checking rituals & my penchant for doing cartwheels & handstands in my apartment (just to prove that I still can do it).

For starters I could have:
– Got laid at 2 in the morning
– Made cupcakes with a sweet yet complicated girl
– Gone to a Superbowl party
– Been miserable alone

But I did none of those things & I’m perfectly fine with that for some inexplicable reason (shh, I’m the most well adjusted person on the face of the planet).

I’m sure I left a few other tidbits out, but it’s Superbowl Sunday (and I really don’t care).

I’m hitting the showers & happily heading to bed.

Take care cupcakes…mmm cupcakes (drools just a little).
