Down the Rabbit Hole

Pills can't fix everything.

Pills can’t fix everything.

I’ll be your Morpheus for today. There is no blue pill (ignore the Viagra) & there is no red pill for happiness (ignore the Cipralex in my hand). Pills can only do so much, the rest is up to you. I’m speaking from experience.

The red pill and its opposite, the blue pill, are symbols representing the choice between blissful ignorance (blue) and embracing the sometimes painful truth of reality (red).

You have to find your own balance & happiness, & you will. You are worth so much more than the truths that you swallow. Medication can help you, but they can’t guide to towards the peace & calm that you seek. Only love, patience & understanding can do that.

Lines from “The Matrix”, starring You:

Morpheus: I imagine that right now you’re feeling a bit like Alice. Tumbling down the rabbit hole?

You: You could say that.

Morpheus: I can see it in your eyes. You have the look of a person who accepts what they see because they’re expecting to wake up. Ironically, this is not far from the truth. Do you believe in fate?

You: No.

Morpheus: Why not?

You: ‘Cause I don’t like the idea that I’m not in control of my life.

Morpheus: I know exactly what you mean. Let me tell you why you’re here. You’re here because you know something. What you know, you can’t explain. But you feel it. You felt it your entire life. That there’s something wrong with the world.

You take the blue pill – the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill – you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.

There is a 3rd option, you just can't see it yet. It begins & ends with you.

There is a 3rd option, you just can’t see it yet. It begins & ends with you.

KFC & The Double Down Double Standard

KFC's Backside Marketing

Bunless Sandwich Sold on the Buns of Girls

For about 2 weeks now my nephew has been talking about KFC‘s “Double Down“, a breadless sandwich: two oversized chicken patties between which lie two bacon strips, two cheese slices, and “special” sauce that’s anything but.

The photo above was in the 24 Hours Newspaper on the Day the Bunless Wonder showed up on University Campuses in the U.S. through the use of cute girls with the words “Double Down” on their butts.

*Clap Clap Clap* KFC sure knows how to market to the masses, if putting “Double Down” on the cute buns of hot girls doesn’t get guys to try this “bunless” destroyer, what will?
Human Advertisment has it’s price, it was reported by “USA Today” that the girls are paid $500 each to hand out coupons while wearing the red pants.
The National Organization for Women president Terry O’Neill told the newspaper the campaign is “obnoxious.”

KFC’s Double Down will kill you someday.
“Don’t just feed your hunger, crush it,” an ad for the sandwich on the U.S. KFC website says. “So much chicken there wasn’t room for the bun.”

The sandwich contains 540 calories, which the company says is similar to the calories found in burgers at other fast food restaurants. It contains as many calories as a McDonald’s Big Mac in Canada. Burger King’s Whopper has 670 calories, a Wendy’s single old fashioned hamburger has 470 calories and a Harvey’s original hamburger has 380 calories. The less said about it, the better. Thankfully this thing isn’t in Canada….yet.

I just have to ask, “Would you like a Heart Attack with that Double Down Sir/Mam?”

I have struggled in various ways, but lately I’ve found and acknowledged that some of my hardest shortcomings have been caused by me, and my lack of foresight. I’ve never considered myself to be impulsive or spontaneous, but instead patient, predictable (and no I don’t mean reliable). Sure people can always depend on me to listen to them & find a way to make them smile, but rarely have I ever felt needed. I feel as though another person could fill my spot and in my absence they’d do for them what I could only hope to do with the best of intentions.

Can they get from someone else whatever it is that they find lacking in my presence?

Maybe I’m being selfish, but lately I feel as though I spend so much time and energy helping others and yet I don’t have a clue as to how I can do the same for myself. I’ve tried to see myself as someone else in hopes that I would jump to my own rescue with the same caliber of resilience, intelligence and resourcefulness that I seem to display with others, but no such luck. It’s like suffering from “writer’s block”, I can have the greatest story in the world, but that story is literally nothing until it has been brought to life through the words and actions that I have chosen.

Each story needs a beginning, middle and end; but what becomes of the characters when there is no visible end in sight?

With each action mapped out, branching off into a potential destiny, I have to wonder if this endgame will turn out as I’ve envisioned it. To even call these random flickers I’ve been dreaming up lately anything short of visions would be a great disservice, not only to my hopes and dreams, but to the people and events which have helped mold me into the person I am becoming and embracing. I was told that there is a time and place for everything, and in time my place in everything would become clear. That hint of knowledge was dropped on me by a rather tasty fortune cookie by the way.
But for now, I cannot live for the future, but for the present which is before me.

For now all I can do is try, and hope that I will make a difference in a positive way.

Watch Yourself

Watch your thoughts; they become words
Watch your words; they become actions
Watch your actions; they become habits
Watch your habits; they become character
Watch your character; they become your destiny
