I like your silence
And the volume at which it speaks
Its honesty emits a truth which words sometimes forget
The sound of silence can be deafening for some
Pregnant pauses become overdue until something must be said
You could be cruel
You could be kind
You could also be mistaken
You pick your pauses so carefully that what follows must be heard
Flooding our ears with unthoughtful words is emotional pollution
Have a moment of silence
Breathe and stop
Wait and see
Choose your battles carefully
Your tongue rests with angels in spite of all the hell it could awaken
I may not always understand your silence, but I know where it comes from
Birthed in a place of patience
Raised with peace of mind
Walked a mile with empathy
The space between your words reveals what words can’t
For every Speaker, there is a Listener
For every word, one must be heard
I see your silence
I can still hear what you mean
I feel your silence
When I can understand your heart
When everything seems complicated, I simply want you.
When emotions are running high and we’ve exhausted all reason,
I want to quiet our wounded insecurities with a touch of love.
When my thoughts have become loud and heavy,
I want your lips to quiet my own with a kiss.
When there is nothing to say,
I want us to say everything with that look which transcends words.
When everything seems complicated,
I simply want you.
Pointlessly hopeful, craving sweet serenity between every breath.
Feelings under the surface rise above in spite of everything.
When belief and truth come together, meaning is complete.
Life is as complicated as it is compelling.
Maybe tomorrow will be worth the wait.
If you can’t give up everything, what will you gain in the end?
Sacrifice takes what you want and nothing less.
Gave you a life for a life, a heart for a heart.
Can’t keep the future at bay.
Leave your fears at the door.
Leave your fears for me.

Cutting through the silence, your words come rushing forth.
You say what I feel until I can feel no more.
Everything that I knew comes knocking on my door.
Until you’re finished speaking my mind, I won’t be able to find that solitude I left behind.
