You will be a mannequin for a man again.

You weren’t meant to be yours alone.
You are whatever we say you are.
You will be a mannequin for a man again.
Transform yourself to our liking.
We will build you up to break you down.

You are not important unless everybody likes you.
Be explicit to elicit our affection.
The only way to win is to lose yourself to us.
Attention comes with a price.
We’ll buy into you if you sell your truth.

And don’t forget to smile.

Show Me, Don’t Tell Me

tumblr_md87o5ecdb1r5inhvo1_500

For so long I’ve been told “show don’t tell”, and all I want to do is talk these days.

Living in this age where you have to capture life as it’s coming right at you is exhausting. Even with a camera in hand I sometimes find myself not wanting to film a thing while I am enjoying the moment. Maybe it’s just me, maybe I’m not ready to prove that I was there every single time. Some moments are just meant to be between you and I. Everyone doesn’t need to know everything.

I am talking about embarrassing things I did when I was thirteen, my scars, and those silly little thoughts that can’t be put on display. Can we make a memory if no one else knows that it happened?

I am more than I seem, and so are you. For so long I’ve been told “show don’t tell”, and all I want to do is talk these days.

Quote: Unworthiness

There are times when the only thing holding me back is myself. My lack of forgiveness for myself is an oddity. In the end I have to set myself free in order to be better than I was.

Masks (Pt. 4)

image

It’s too easy to get lost in what’s missing.
Slipping into deeper shades of grey with each mistake.
This won’t last with the world at our fingertips.

I recognize your life from your language.
You like your hell with a splash of Hennessey.
All the things you’ve done became you.

You want me to think of you differently as though I never knew your name.
We’re different breeds and it’s really starting to show.
Who do you think you are?

If yesterday doesn’t sit right with you move differently.
Get a handle on your truth and there’s nothing to think about.
Cancel all these complications.

When you’re M.I.A. it’s not the same.
All these pretenders imitating real talk.
If you want to be somebody, be yourself.

Understand your energy, live like it’s nobody’s business.
Show me something real, over and over again.
I want to see you.
